October 2014 Version Update Preview

Discussion in 'Entropia News' started by EntropiaPlanets, Oct 8, 2014.

  1. Now that the release of the next Version Update has been postponed at least 3 times we fell confident to publish a preview for the VU with great certainity to be released next Tuesday, 14th of October 2014.

Unfortunately, as you can see, the information is scarce for most planets, if you know more please add to the thread.

    Two things are outstanding:

    Let's hope for a smooth, bug-free and content-rich update.

  2. Entropia Universe

The highly anticipated new (or old?) taming system is supposed to be released - at least the first stage of it. We would like to collect info on the new taming system in this thread as soon as it becomes available.

Taming Stage 1 - (Planned for Autumn 2014 Release)

Some of you will be happy to hear that we plan to (finally) reintroduce Taming to Entropia Universe. In the first stage the core functionality will be quite similar to the original taming system, with added improvements to usability and fun-factor. Initially, pets will be to able accompany your avatar in its Entropia Universe travels, with more pet abilities and features planned for later stages (see below).

PVP Improvements - (Planned for Autumn 2014 Release)

Various improvements to PVP combat have already been implemented this year and more are planned after the summer, including adjustments to the landgrab and fort systems.
    Communication and Development Roadmap

    Re-introducing Taming inside Entropia Universe
A long time ago in the virtual Universe colonists used to tame wildlife species to be a colonists best friend. And for fun!
In the next major update to Entropia Universe the profession of taming will once again be made available. Starting with one wild creature on each of the planets Calypso, Arkadia, Cyrene, Toulan and Rocktropia, colonists will be able to tame these to be a colonists new best friend.

Old time Entropia veterans with previous taming experience will have their old pets regenerated using a dazzling new DNA-technology. While not being guaranteed a 100% match of the previous tamed pet this technology will give veterans a unique way of displaying their skills and hard earned efforts of old times.

In the first stage of the taming system the basis for this growing part of Entropia life and economy will be laid out. Further additions to the taming system will be added in the outlined stages to come.

In this release your Pet, once tamed, will need your attention to grow in affection, learn to perform additional tricks and more. You as an avatar will learn new skills associated with taming and, as with many other systems inside Entropia be able to benefit from and take part in the related economy.

More details about the taming system will be made public in connection to the next Entropia Universe update.

  7. Planet Cyrene

Cyrene will probably face the most extensive changes in this Version Update and in the planet's history as well. Read yourself:

    Hey everyone,

Kris here again for the Planet Cyrene October 7th 2014, VU Preview.

This will be a different sort of preview as this VU is a precursor to Hard Launch. The Imperium have overrun Janus, Turrelion, and A.R.C. areas with tactical orbital strikes and wave after wave of Imperium infantry.

What this means for Cyrene colonists is they will be forced to relocate to a currently uninhabited area of Cyrene. On this new relocation server we get our first glimpses of the Inverted Zyn Pyramid. As well as the Sky Labs, the giant floating science center for the Scientific Order of Cyrene.

The new area will be located here:

The other areas will be reopened in the future as part of the player driven upgrade system. Speaking about that system, in order to make it easier for players see the different areas and the different types of areas and upgrade that can happen we will be posting up a map of the area that will be updated periodically to show which areas are close to the next unlock or series of unlocks.

The new area has a centralized mission hub located near the relocated 0x101 Supply Depot, as well as the Zyn'kimbro and Tanhok missions. This area also has room for expansion for full shops and apartments (not to mention the recently sold stables).

Many of the daily missions have been streamlined, Verifier Franklin has been removed from her post and did not make her way to the new area, so the daily missions from Ron Sophiscus and Will Andrews are simpler to complete. Also the Zyn'Kimbro spawn missions have been moved to a more accessible location (which includes Lazidol).

There are also new items for the Cyrene Mission Tokens, a full set of Ozpyn Beetle armor as well as several weapons.

The majority of the creature spawns have migrated to this new area as well as some new creatures:

The Arret, one of the first mammal hybrids to appear on Cyrene. It appears that these creatures may even be able to be tamed and kept as pets.

The Crystal Ice Golem, these ice monsters are made of the same crystal material that is embedded within the glacier. These Crystal Ice Golems have driven the Zyn'Nix into hiding. If enough are cleared overtime, perhaps the Zyn'Nix will make themselves known again.

That's not to say that certain areas and upgrades won't happen. Some upgrades will happen no matter what, a few examples for the Hard Launch VU are:

    - Factions (starting with A.R.C. faction story missions and rewards)

    - PvP Mech Battles

    - Shops and Apartments

I hope this sheds some light on the next coming VU for Planet Cyrene as well as a glimpse into our future plans. Thanks for reading and thanks for playing Planet Cyrene.

    Cheers,
    Kris

  8. Monria

    Bug fixes and adjustments

Monria will probably only receive bug fixes and might get a few changes requested by the Monria team, for example a chapter mission reward, new TPs and revivals, adjusted mob spawns, adjusted mining resources, a separate mission tab for Monrian missions, a branded Monria global & HOF message.

  11. Tass

    Tass Administrator

Iron challenge for every mob, mission terminal containing all missions, auto-use tool, auto-loot pills, portable TT & repair terminals, ...

How about making all mobs static, lining them up in a row and place comfortable barstools in front of them?

OK so this is the most interesting thing of note here so lets all put our conspiracy hats on and jump into the fray! = )

So first impressions for me is that this seems very reminiscent of what happened to Rocktropia. Downsize to one server, move the most popular bits over etc etc. Seems a prudent move too given I hear Cyrene is a little on the quiet side.

But they say they are "gearing for hard launch". So what does this mean? Is it a "happy pill" to swallow with the downsize to make it all better? Or is it a move that genuinely needs to be done from a game play perspective? i.e. Cyrene team need all current "threads of play" out the way while they completely re-work an area? Essentially the old "soft launch" or "beta" play has no (or a different) place in the Cyrene plan moving forward?

My first thought was to check the map, ie is this new area a departure from the original plan?
Looking at this, the new area does look reminiscent of the original model (or at least as closely matched as the original areas) which I'd say was a good sign.

My conclusion therefore is that the two options are not mutually exclusive. Yes this new area is a cost saving downsize but at the same time it is also a precursor to "hard launch". The caveat I would stipulate on this one is that I would be very surprised if hard launch happens any time soon. Certainly not this or next year. In short I expect Cyrene citizens to be in the South East for a very long time.

I'm suspicious about the use of the phrase "first glimpses" too. Something tells me this will something we can see but can't touch.

On the subject of Cyrene... anyone know when this fella is likely to turn up?

Sorry for the strew of posts on different subjects. One final thing, should I go to Cyrene now? or wait again until the downsize? or later? I've been toying with the idea of leaving Caly again for a while now as lately just not been in the mood for it. I'm a slow player so I'm thinking there is no way I can get "much" into Cyrene in less than a week. Still, I could maybe do a whistle stop tour by air to see the sites briefly and perhaps pick up whatever freebies are easily accessible.

Still I'm wondering wha the point would be though... ideally I'd like to experience Cyrene as Cryene was envisioned rather than play a beta or reduced version of it.

Hmm... I think I've probably answered my own question there... maybe I should go back to Arkadia instead... its a bit like my Dagobah, need to finish my Jedi training. I was there a while ago with a mind to "doing it properly" but then the CLD's happened and my "quick trip back to Caly" turned into an extended stay

    PS what armour is this?

  18. Well this was the plan from the start just that MA was kind of slow giving them the needed system(s) for this. The planet was to start up as a small area and would unlock based on our activity fighting the mobs and other players in pvp. They told us this would happen with a warning and all but due to it taking so long they had to re-plan I guess since they can't just reset the planet now due to all users and all.[/QUOTE]

  19. RAZER

RAZER Custom title ... uh ...

I have nothing to base my assumption on, but this downsizing of Cyrene feels much more planned then the RT one. They gave the old players something to play with and explore (and get the bugs out of their system) while working on the smaller server in 'secret' waiting for the needed systems to be released by MindArk. Mainly because not much has changed on Cyrene, so not that much time has been spend in new stuff, since soft launch I expect a very nice one server planet where they apparently put all their time in.
