Ok I am a complete noob, I just started playing about 3 weeks and now my wife has jumped on the wagon. We both have been playing wow for over 4 years now and this game caught my attention and has me hooked. I do have a couple questions hoping some people can shine some light on this for me. 1. When it comes to hunting I have skilled up enough to kill things like: · Caudatergus · Daikiba · Berycled · Combibo · Exarosaur Now these mobs listed above I can solo with ease up to the providers the bigger ones after those I can kill when the wife and I are out hunting together. So my question is do these guys ever drop anything worth some real value or are we wasting our time hunting these and also I noticed when you first come out of the main city there are ones with puny after their name do these guys ever drop anything as well since I can almost one shot them ? I recently ran all the way to Nea’s Place (Only died like 4 times) I found a great place to farm Merps (young to mature) are they worth farming compared to the mobs I listed above ? If anyone has other ideas on different mobs to hunt other than the ones listed above could please advise ? Finally my last question is recently somewhere my wife read that a lot of others have been having a hard time seeing the stones and fruit since one the recent patches. Was wondering if anyone else has had these issues as well since I have walked from Nea’s Place to the North Shore of Treasure Island and only finding one fruit? Anyways thanks for reading my post and I hope someone has some good thoughts on my questions. Noobs from the east coast
Hi there and welcome to EU and EP The mobs you list do loot some nice stuff once in a while (mainly some armor and small weapons, but also other stuff). But this game is dynamic (I hate that word) and you might not get any useful item in a long while and then get a few in one day. Let me list some of the stuff they loot: Berycled: Shogun armor FAP-15 EWE-21 defender A&P Series Brave Daikiba: Emik S30 (L) Emik S50 (L) pixie armor Exarosaur: FAP-5, 15, 18 Emik S30 (L) Pixie armor Combibo: Emik S30 (L) Caudatergus: Goblin armor and of course lots of other stuff to. Merp are pretty fun to hunt, but aggressive as hell so you might end up with 10+ around you, so be prepared and careful. They drop some gremlin armor parts. There is also a merp mission, so if you plan to hunt them be sure to get that first. Yes the puny's drop stuff to, but because of the easy with which you can kill them they do not drop much, there have been a few globals on them, but I think it might be better to shoot something else when you switch from your newbie weapon to anything else, unless it is just for pure fun :) Well not sure about fruit, but you can only see it while WALKING and not (or very hard) while RUNNING. I don;t walk around looking at the ground to much, but I do happen to stop right on top of some fruit once in a while just by chance. One mob you might wanna try are Snablesnot, they are easy and drop Pixie armor. As for other mobs you might wanna hunt, I might say Molisk, not alone and probably not with your wife, but if you can make a 4 man team with opalo, you should be able to kill a few young ones, and there is a nice LA with a lot of young ones Also Foul should be a nice mob to hunt and not to hard with 2 people. Good luck and if you have more question please ask so we can try to help you. oh and for more info on the mobs take a look at our wiki: http://www.entropiaplanets.com/wiki/Calypso_mobs
Hi, The standard item drops on low end monsters are usually not super valuable, due to so many people hunting them. Of course every mob has the same expected return for the trade terminal value (afaik). You can still loot rare items off them and still hit large loots. What you should really be looking for when hunting is the market value on the loot that the mob drops. If a mob regularly drops items that have a high market value, then that is probably a good mob to hunt. Typically this means hunting stuff that not many people hunt. With respect to the fruit and stone drops, I don't know. I haven't seen any in a while, but then again, I haven't been looking really. It's not uncommon though to walk for hours and see nothing. Sometimes you walk for 20 min and find 10 things.
Awesome guys thanks for the info. Looking up this mob you call Foul. Yes the Snablesnots was one i forgot to list they have been pretty good to me thus far. This freaken game is crazy fun lol
...and you haven't even seen the half of it :) Just keep asking questions and gather information, that's the most important in this game.
hmm it's been many years since little Lhava was a little noob-lette, so i'm afraid i no longer have the right perspective to give advice on hunting merps and going fruiting. however, if you will allow me i would like to throw out some general advice in regards to the hunting profession.... many times people have asked me something like, "what is the most valuable/best/efficient thingie to use for hunting success?" i think they want me to name a weapon or fap or some item. to ashman i would say, your wife is that thingie. hunting consistently with a good partner will decrease the decay you both pay for armor and faps, and increase your overall dps. (damage per second). as in, you kill mobs faster and more efficiently doing it as a team. also, as you have discovered, you can take on bigger mobs that drop better stuff :) plus its just more fun to hunt with a friend :) the other most important thingie, and the answer i give to most, is to have a proper BANKROLL. don't tt your loot. sell it! but in order to sell it properly, you need to save up stacks of stuff in your storage. figure out how much peds you need to have on your card, to cycle through hunting, to allow you to save up good sellable stacks. take some time to explore the auction and see what the prices of things are. in regards to mob choice, i would say to take on the biggest thing you can without hunting "over your head." if a mob is beating the crap out of your armor and fap, then its too big. try to match mob choice with the gear and health you currently have. again, take the wife along to maximize that :) you have the right idea of looking at what items the mobs drop, that will become very important later on as you take on larger mobs. for now, hunt smart, skill up, don't tt your loot. and have fun :)
Just wanted to say thanks again. We took your advice here and out we went no huge drops but pushed us a little harder to go and explore and find some great new hunting areas. We will let you guys know how it turns out wooot
1) as Lhava says, teaming is very important and pretty much offers only advantages 2) might also try sabukama and snarksnots at your current level 3) work on getting all the teleports if you dont have them 4) Study entropedia Entropedia: Main Page shows all the mobs and the drops people have decided to document. i say it like this as some stuffs are not on the drop tables. You can sort mobs, weapons, armors variouse ways and will help you decide what to hunt and how. 5) Find a good society if you decide you want in. Lots free advice, lots shoulders to cry on when MA takes your peds, lots peeps to celebrate getting your peds back when it happens. -have fun, happy HOFing!
Get an EP-21, Rascal armor, and a FAP-50 and hunt argonauts north of Twin Peaks. Make sure to get the argo quests and complete each one, info on the wiki.
"Get an EP-21, Rascal armor, and a FAP-5" As a new player he probably not ready for argos This is bad advise and a recipe for disaster. ep-21 is not maxed til L100, so while it has enough dps to be effective on argo when maxed, until it is maxed it will be operating at less dps and less economy. same with fap50, it is maxed at a higher level and has higher decay. Sure you will get some better heals, and as a panic fap it would be good, but as a primary it will cost more. rascal armor is too much armor for small argo. basically this setup is using gear to compensate for skills and will cost lot extra peds that a new player probably doesnt have. imho the time and gear to use on small argo is when he has at the very least m2a maxed, better the riker ul2, pixie armor, and a t1 or t5 fap. defensive decay will be very low, saving peds to be used on ammo. If he teams as he seems like to do, try argos when both people have the m2a maxed and maybe with no armor, with T1 fap anyway, everyone has an opinion, have fun out there
Good points...I guess my own history involves not so-economical hunting but I was trying to come up with a fun setup that wasn't too crazy.
Ok it’s been a few days since I have posted an update on the status of my skilling, woot it’s been pretty good so far. The wife and I ended up dropping 80.00 for some peds. Of course she is still holding over 300 ped (tight wad, lol) me on the other hand I am down to 140, typical guy. I did have 3 pretty good drops so far. Two mobs dropped enough loot that each one gave me close to 25 ped and I hit an oil well for 52 ped. Pretty good I thought. My highest skill is 8 with a handful of skill 6’es right behind skill 8. I am still using the Opalo, tier 1.3 and a few armor items with one of them being the goblin. I keep getting armor drops but seem to be for female so yea the wife gets it. Last night I had a set of Shogun arm guards drop for female. Right now its 5pm est. xmas eve and I am heading to OLA62 to farm me some merps and cave sap, if anyone is bored, lol. Thanks again for all the different advice posted here. Oh yea I can now solo the agronauts young and the fouls that are adult and young. I use too much ammo though, hehe… Mery Christmas everyone, Ashman Ashbee Lewis Oh yea one last thing I somehow joined a social and want to leave how to I do that?
To leave a society you go to a society terminal in game, looks like a tt or repair terminal but is orange instead of blue and green. You should be able to leave the society using options from within that terminal. You can also use it to browse through existing societies, or view their member lists and info(if they have that info set to public.) have fun :) narfi
