Taking a turn away from gaming, I am currently in the process of redesigning my business website. Why? In the last year of operation I have found a niche market for my particular talents, and my website while pretty never really did the job I wanted it to do for my company --- generate traffic. My approach to web design was a bit oldskool, having put things together sometime in early 2000 for the last time. CSS, CMS systems, etc are all rather new to me. But I've learned alot working with Drupal on this site, and so given a shift of business focus in real life I have opted to scrap the old site entirely for the holiday season and attempt to rebuild it. Not many folks will miss it now that its gone, but my hope is that people will find it a much better way to contact me for various freelance opportunities after its revamped. I've also branded a 501 c3 nonprofit organization recently and will be working on putting this project together with my board of directors, so redoing my business site for myself will give me opportunity to work with Drupal on a non game related platform, and stretch my web design muscles a bit. I'm also excited to say that I'm going to see one of the greatest punk rock bands of all time, Bad Religion, in San Francisco later this month. The last time I saw these guys was in 2004 or thereabouts, and unfortunately it was my elbow which I fear may have broken Fat Mike (NOFX) nose at that show. Bad Religion puts on a great act, and Greg Graffin's stance as a truly intellectual punk rocker has always been something I enjoy about the band. Im happy that after 30 years they're still rockin and releasing top notch albums. After that Fish is taking me to see another band, Grinderman, which I guess is Nick Cave's latest project. Busy times! Put all this together with normal work and guild life and I'm busy enough. But there's 1 more thing Im considering. Lately I have been tempted to hit the subscribe button on Darkfall Online. Darkfall is an MMO that I have a love/hate relationship with. It boils down to Darkfall not having the mechanics I believe should be in an MMO, but having a great world full of danger and difficulty. I find myself curious about the new patch that is due. This patch is a complete world overhaul, offering the first game environment to have real consequences weather, as well as seas with waves and tides, and a full graphics upgrade. I'm not quitting Entropia, but it would be nice to have a game I can fiddle around with and not have to worry about anything in. No guild to take care of.. No drama from trolls. No high cost of play. Just me. Of course I cant do all of these things at once. And theres also Entropia Exchange that I have not forgotten about. Im going to have to prioritize a bit. It should be rather easy to figure out.... "Come out to play. Come out to play. And we'll pretend its Christmas Day in my atomic garden." -
