So today I organized a little Opalo Team Hunt. We had 12 people and hunted some Furor. Loot sucked and we probably lost money. So after that we tried some Longtooth and they are doable with 12 people, but again loot sucked. So where is this going you ask, well, nowhere . Just wanted to tell you all this and that I will be doing more of these, because they are to much fun. I still remember the 95 people opalo hunt on spiders and Grand Formidon last year and they were funny as hell and I would like to do those again, but with the team settings we have now it is just to risky. If MA would reintroduce the "Leader takes all" setting again this would be very possible. But without that we have the risk of people running off with loot. Anyway that's the story ...
A while back a soc mate of mine made an opalo team hunting chart for selecting mobs depending on the team size. It is an eco/conservative chart and some of the mobs can be hunted with fewer team mates, but I really like what he did, so try and share it when its appropriate :P Opalo Team Chart - Lost Renegades We have done a few opalo dragon hunts since ive been on Rocktopia lately and it is a ton of fun. Joplin and Lemmy dragons can be revive killed fairly easily with a team of opalos and they spawn right on the TP so its quick and easy to get back to them after you revive. ~10seconds between the time you die and are shooting again. My soc has done a lot of Malcrutenter hunts as well, usually they were "any gun goes" type hunts but i think could be done with 12 opalos pretty easily. They are one hit kill mobs, but run very slow. So the trick is to spread out and whoever has agro has to run away till it agros on someone else. Tons of fun! hope you do well Razer, narfi
Already got that chart Narfi, came across it while doing a google search I think. Didn't understand it at first because a lot of the mobs you could do with a lot less people, but as you say it is an eco chart I understand. Thank anyway for the info
Weee yeh I had a great time, and thanks for the extra TP too. I'll upload a few pics I took if I can work out how. aha! Wistrel PS and yeh the loot made me feel sorry for uba hunters. PPS I had a long chat with a housemate the other day about the logistics of reinstating the old the team loot settings. Alas its actually a little more complicated than I thought to get rid of the pvp exploits... ok no its not complicated more, its complicated to it in a non confusing way for players... that said there are plenty of things more complicated in this game
Was fun having you there Wistrel. The team setting "leader takes all" indeed has a problem with scamming, but I think MA can solve this by showing a message to every player that joins the team showing the team settings and explaining and the need to agree to them (well at least the "Leader takes all" and "Looter takes all" setting). This way everybody knows what they are getting in to. This setting will be great for big team hunts with more then 1 team and will give the possibility for some fun events. Lets see what will happen.
This really looks like fun, and I have been part of big Opalo hunts in the past, so I know how crazy it can get, but ... taking on the big mobs with an Opalo is a total adrenaline rush, so I'll definitely have to consider joining up with you somewhere along the way Razer.
Well I don't know for sure the story but I think I picked up it was a pvp exploit more than anything that resulted in the loss of leader takes all and equal split. I assumed the problem was that you go into lootable pvp and all your loot goes to the leader who is safely outside pvp. Bit of a cheat really. Its not too hard to fix, but a solution that is elegant and easily explained to players is trickier
I have a brilliant and yet elegant solution. As soon as someone in such a team enters PVP, all the loot from the team will end up in my inventory. Simple, elegant. How could anyone NOT like this? :D On-topic, looks like great fun indeed. I have been pondering organizing some similar event, but with whips :D I happen to have a collection of whips that I am willing to let people use (albeit, I'll ask for collateral, just to be on the safe side), and I am sure it is possible to take down Longtooth with enough whippers.
ok, i just came back from my short vacation and I see this thread and thought: " they did another opalo hunt without me" but then look at the date. Plenty of interested people so my question is should we start organizing another one? 33.8 ped is more than enough(1 opalo, 1 tt fap- optional- and the rest ammo) if you want fun in entropia you need to work for it :) so I'd like to see people saying what time and day is good for them. friday, saturday, , 18.00 ma time, 19.00 ma time (this is what works for me) @ Razer: sorry to highjack your thread
No problem at all 47 ! Put me on the list for 16:00 until 22:00 MA time any day and 08:00 until 24:00 on weekends.
