The creature known as the Riptor is quite colorful by nature, almost to the point of their appearance being mesmerizing, but perhaps this is to their advantage. Gawking too long may be your downfall, as their aggro level is quite easily engaged, and you may find that you are on the short end of a battle for survival.

Here’s what we know about the Riptor thus far:

It was May 3009 when the jaws of a giant stone Riptor head had been painstakingly excavated in the Sentosa Desert. The mouth of the giant head led to an underground cavern system that is believed to be the ancient Arkadian city of Aakas.

It appears that the Riptor was of great significance to the ancient Arkadians. The head of the Riptor is prominently featured on the Arkoin, which currently, can only be found as loot from the Arkadian Aakas instances.

During excavation of the underground cavern environment, it was also discovered that many stone-carved Riptor statues had been designed in exquisite detail and lined the corridors that led to the chamber of mysterious doors, only to leave one pondering the possibilities of what secrets may be discovered beyond. Treasures were foremost on everyone’s mind.

The official description of the Riptor is quite telling as well, with a bit of an interesting story as to how it got its abbreviated name:

When first seen on Arkadia, this vicious carnivore’s speed, aggression and style of attack quickly earned it the nickname, “Ripraptor.” According to an eye witness at an Archaeological Society Digsite: Before you could say “Ripraptor” it was right up near us and being taken out by the turret, so we decided there was only enough time to call it “Riptor.”

There is no doubt that the Riptor is revered, and those who followed the ancient Arkadian civilization are also prepared to celebrate not only its history, but a well-placed presence in the current Arkadian environment. In doing so, planet proprietors have designed a challenge to invite all to participate in quelling the rampaging Riptors.

To be in the running, Eric the IFN Christmas Elf wants you to global by hunting Riptors.

There’s no need to track your progress. Eric knows when you are sleeping, when you’re awake, and whether you’ve been bad or good. To Eric, globaling on Riptors is good, and that’s all you have to do!

    SIX (6) NEW RIPTOR SPAWNS

Aside from the four (4) known Riptor locations across Sentosa, Eric the IFN Christmas Elf (being magical) predicts that this Friday, Riptors will spawn in good numbers in six (6) additional locations! The coordinates of the center of each new spawn will be as follows:

    Riptor Young, Mature, Old
    21815, 18397
    31914, 11968

    Riptor Provider, Guardian, Dominant, Alpha
    12375, 28134
    28929, 30146

    Riptor Old Alpha, Prowler, Stalker
    12199, 13047
    17955, 19468

This event will last for 24 days of carnage, and according to Eric’s prediction, it has prompted him to separate the competition into three maturity blocks as follows :

    BLOCK 1

    Riptor Young
    Riptor Mature
    Riptor Old

    BLOCK 2

    Riptor Provider
    Riptor Guardian
    Riptor Dominant
    Riptor Alpha

    BLOCK 3

    Riptor Old Alpha
    Riptor Prowler
    Riptor Stalker

In each block, there are three different categories in which to win a prize:

    CATEGORY A

Highest NUMBER of globals (top 8 in each BLOCK)

    CATEGORY B

Highest single global VALUE (top 1 in each BLOCK)

    CATEGORY C

Random globals (first 4 drawn in each BLOCK)

    Accordingly:
    • Any particular colonist can only win one prize.
    • This means the Riptor Rampage will have 39 winners!
    • Twelve (12) of these, the random prizes, will be to people who simply got an entry by achieving a global!

    Rules - Notes - Definitions

    * The “Nano Chip 3-Pack” prize consists of three Mindforce chips as follows:

    • 1 x full TT Health Augmentation Chip I (L)
    • 1 x full TT Regeneration Acceleration Chip I (L)
    • 1 x full TT Regeneration Inhibition Chip I (L)
Each Neurobiotic Booster A5 10mg consumable item increases skill gains in all professions by 50% after being consumed, and lasts for 10 hours of logged-in time. The timer is paused while the avatar who has consumed the booster item is logged out of Entropia Universe. Unconsumed booster items are non-tradeable.

    * This event is open to individuals only, and results will be determined via a report from MindArk.

    * Teams are not eligible for participation in this event. Any team results will be ignored in determining the winners.

    * An individual may only win one prize. However, an individual can compete in as many BLOCKS and CATEGORIES as he or she wishes.

    * Therefore, prizes need to be drawn in a particular order. As each individual winner is determined, he or she is then deemed ineligible for any further prizes.

The draw order is as follows:

    • BLOCK 3, CATEGORY A, First place
    • BLOCK 3, CATEGORY B, First place
    • BLOCK 2, CATEGORY A, First place
    • BLOCK 2, CATEGORY B, First place
    • BLOCK 1, CATEGORY A, First place
    • BLOCK 1, CATEGORY B, First place
    • BLOCK 3, CATEGORY C, First place
    • BLOCK 2, CATEGORY C, First place
    • BLOCK 1, CATEGORY C, First place
    • BLOCK 3, CATEGORY A, Second place
    • BLOCK 2, CATEGORY A, Second place
    • BLOCK 1, CATEGORY A, Second place
    • BLOCK 3, CATEGORY A, Third place
    • BLOCK 2, CATEGORY A, Third place
    • BLOCK 1, CATEGORY A, Third place
    • BLOCK 3, CATEGORY A, Fourth to Eighth places
    • BLOCK 2, CATEGORY A, Fourth to Eighth places
    • BLOCK 1, CATEGORY A, Fourth to Eighth places
    • BLOCK 3, CATEGORY C, Second to Fourth places
    • BLOCK 3, CATEGORY C, Second to Fourth places
    • BLOCK 3, CATEGORY C, Second to Fourth places
    * Random prizes will be drawn using a random number generator in the order that they appear in the above list. As stated, each winner will be ineligible for further prizes in the competition.

    * The final decision for prizes will be made by Arkadia Studios, and will be announced as soon as possible after the competition ends. It will take some time, however, for MindArk to generate a report and for Arkadia Studios to determine the winners.

    * In the event that there is a tie for any of the prizes, the first player to have reached the winning status receives the prize. If there is a second place in that category, it will go to the person who reached the winning status second, and so on.

    * An eligible “global” is any loot from a Riptor registering a value higher than 50 PED, including HoF (Hall of Fame) and ATH (All Time High). In other words, a Riptor loot of over 50 PED TT value.

    * CATEGORY A prizes will be calculated by looking at the total number of times an individual records a global loot, NOT by looking at the total value of these loots.

    * CATEGORY B prizes will be calculated purely by finding the highest individual global in each BLOCK, and awarding the prize to the avatar that achieved it.

    * CATEGORY C prizes will be drawn using a random number generator, where each global is an entry into the draw. The more globals you get, the more entries you have.

    * Depending on the prize, it will be available either by direct trade with the avatar “Cyrus Arkadia Community Manager,” or by Arkadia Studios having MindArk spawn the item directly to your avatar.

    * In cases where the winner needs to choose between a RAW or SIR model prize, the winner simply needs to let us know which one he or she would prefer, and we will have MindArk spawn your chosen item directly to your avatar.

    * Prizes not collected within 28 days of being advised they are available for trade with Cyrus, risk having Arkadia Studios forfeit the prize.

    * The event begins at 00:00:01 MA/UTC, Friday 21st Dec 2012, and ends 24 days later at 23:59:59 MA/UTC, Sunday 13th Jan 2013. Eligible globals are those that occur between these start and end dates.

Eric the IFN Christmas Elf wishes all contestants good luck and a Merry Christmas

The only question is this — has this event been intentionally created to coincide with the predicted “End of the World” event for some mysterious and sinister reason — or is this an attempt at prolonging what some believe to be the inevitable just for a last chance at having a bit of fun.

Planet Arkadia is notorious for refining the matrix, and I have a feeling that this is just another in a long line of incredible opportunities to feel the love.

Whatever the case, get in on the official discussion of this event and what others think here.
