As you probably already heard and read in recent clientloader and VU news, Planet Calypso has got a new mission/quest system added. In the FPC update 2010|1 we had some minor preview missions just to try out the system, and now with the 2010|2 update a total of around 80 missions can be found around Eudoria. I tried out a lot of them already and have had great fun doing it, there are both pure grinding quests where you are supposed to kill a certain number of a mob, but also quite a lot of missions that are more connected to a storyline which involves more scouting and not so much shooting. I thought I could provide you fine eu-chroniclers with some basic information and overview that hopefully can help you getting started with the missions as well as creating some interest for them; I can assure you there are some nice skill rewards to be had after completing some of them. Here are the main 3 categories of missions present in Planet Calypso at the moment, along with some basic info; Swamp Camp missions These missions were released back in February in order to give a preview of the new mission system. The mission broker (a NPC avatar that you double-click to open up a mission list, displayed as an orange dot on the radar) can be found just a few steps away from the Port Atlantis Teleporter. These rather easy missions, primarily aimed for newer players, then take you upnorth to the Swamp Camp area where you get to try out some sweating and basic hunting. A very easy task for some quite nice rewards both during the sub-missions and at the end of the mission chain where you get a +1 stamina gain! Stamina which contributes to your HP, can't be skilled in any way, only be rewarded through mission completions. Iron Challenge missions Grinding missions! The concept here is to kill a certain number of a mob in different stages. First step is to kill 100, then 500, 1k, 5k and finally 10k. There are 11 Iron Challenge missions brokers scattered around Eudoria which means 11 different mobs of varying difficulty are involved. This means 11*(100+500+1000+5000+10000) = 182 600 mobs in total to kill to complete all these missions. Hard work of course and a rather longterm task just like grinding missions should be, but some very nice attribute and skill rewards along the road as well. Iron Challenge mission brokers coordinates: Araneatrox: ( 83887, 78154 ) - Outpost E of Ashi Teleporter Argonaut: ( 76816, 79118 ) - Outpost SE of Jason Centre Teleporter Armax: ( 87446, 85136 ) - Next to Minopolis Teleporter Atrox: ( 69458, 88736 ) - Outpost NE of Fort Ithaca Teleporter Droka: ( 62961, 82499 ) - Next to Camp Phoenix Teleporter Feffoid: ( 68254, 79070 ) - In the Fort Fury bar Foul: ( 79491, 87882 ) - Next to Camp Echidna Teleporter Hiryuu: ( 80599, 70479 ) - Outpost between Osere and Fort Troy Merp: ( 75879, 91442 ) - Outpost S of Fort Argus Molisk: ( 83537, 93374 ) - Outpost W of Fort Zeus Warrior: ( 68864, 69195 ) - Outpost W of Eos Note that 5 of these 11 mission chains involves a scouting mission before you get to start the killing! However, the coordinates above are the starting points for each mission chain. The rewards for the Iron Challenge missions seems to be following a set system; 100 mobs killed: Attribute gain (+1 in Agility, Strength, Intelligence or Psyche) 500 mobs killed: 250 Nova Fragments 1k mobs killed: Attribute gain 5k mobs killed: 1k Nova Fragments 10k mobs killed: +1 Stamina plus you get to pick one out of two listed skills that will get a nice boost. Cyclops Area missions The mission broker can be found outside the Service Center a few steps away from the Fort Troy Teleporter in eastern part of the continent of Eudoria. These missions send you deep into the jungle to the west for various tasks, all connected to an interesting storyline that evolves through your choices and decisions made. Rewards to be expected here are quite a lot of Nova Fragments, but also some pretty fine Evade, First Aid and other skill gains that are well worth the effort in my opinion. Hopefully this quick guide answered some of the questions you might have had about the missions, and hopefully it will be of help in your future questing. If you want even more detailed stuff (with spoilers I might warn you) about the missions I would suggest taking a look at the missions section over at Entropedia.info or Entropiaplanets.com's wiki missions section. Good luck out there!
Thanks Una, certainly helped me to understand a little of what is going on. I will have to give some of them a try. Sounds like there is a nice bonus at the end of them too which is at least guaranteed :)
I was in the jungle near Ft.Troy yesterday, but I had no idea there was a mission broker there, infact I only thought there was one at PA for swamp camp missions, so great guide!
