    NEW FEATURES

It is now possible for a single creature to have many different attacks to choose between when fighting a colonist. This includes area of effect attacks as well as attacks based on a percentage of the victims current HP. This will present an exiting new challenge for experienced colonists. For the time being this feature has only been enabled on the Rextelum.

It is now possible for missions to consume actual items, this makes it possible to have mission characters that can trade with player avatars.

Planet Calypso will start handing out "Missions Tokens" as rewards for the completion of most of the missions added from now on. The mission tokens are trade-able and can be used to purchase various items from mission NPCs. The items that can be bought with the tokens has no fixed token price. The number of tokens needed to buy an item can fluctuate with supply and demand.

    RESETTLEMENT UPDATE

Three new areas have been discovered in the strait between Amethera and Eudoria, linking the two continents together.

Two new creatures have been found in the new areas, the Rextelum and the Traeskeron.

Many new missons have been implemented.

Daikiba's have once again been sighted near Port Atlantis.

The peninsula above Treasure Island has sunk into the sea.

A lot of new items are waiting to be discovered.

    FIXED ISSUES

    Added gun turrets to Minopolis.

    KNOWN ISSUES

It is possible to fall through the floor at certain places in the Ringhorne.

  3. New Islands emerge from the Sea

The latest update from those nice people at Planet Calypso News tell us that:-

I decided I should follow this up with a quick report, it turns out the report was significantly quicker than planned.

I jumped into a TP, set the destination for Medusa Head (still pleasant as long as you don't watch) and on arrival spawned The Bad Moon Rising on one of the launch pads there. I could see an interesting feature on the map that looked like it could be a defended area so I set my heading toward it (South and slightly East).

I was over the sea as far as I remember I was still amongst or about to leave the Medusa Islands when I suffered two Critical memory failures and was dumped from the program, this did not bode well.

After re-log I found myself in the sea at the foot of some cliffs, The Bad Moon Rising was upside in the water, nothing I could use that for so I recovered it and looked about, to the west there were a few boats and I could see a Quad Wing heading into land so I swam West and soon arrived at a beach. There was a structure upon the beach and by the look of the radar it was swarming with colonists. I headed towards this, two more Critical memory failures. I had been keeping an eye on the memory this time, it was only at 65%! It was late, I decided to continue the next morning,

The next morning, I again arrived on the beach, there were far less colonists around and I managed to enter the structure and gain access to the TP within, at least I now had a way out! I decided to explore a little and managed to accept a couple of missions and take a few snaps. I was heading inland when I was caught by the Gokibusagis, made me my eyes water and they were still watering when I was revived at the aforementioned TP. I was just leaving this when yes I had another two Critical Memory failures.

I am going to have to lower my graphics settings still further before I can continue with this.

Graphics settings lowered, everything set to medium, I set off again, this time in armour, on the way I find a crashed Quad Wing (left), looks like I'm not the only one struggling with memory! My RAM is still running at 70% which is too high, I know it's only a matter of time. Entering the swamp (Right), I have a few encounters with the local fauna before once again succumbing to the Gokibusagis and being returned to Odysseus Landing (the name of the TP) where, yes you guessed it I once again crash out as I do not have enough RAM. Looks like I will have to try even lower settings or maybe upgrade the the PC (again)!

  4. Well, I went back and set all my graphics settings to low, this made it possible for me to explore the new area however I soon discovered that I did not want to! If I can't see it properly why bother to look?

I am curious as to just why that particular area takes so much RAM. Also I have discovered that I am currently running right on the edge of stability so it looks like I need to get myself a new PC or at least a new motherboard and RAM to match as my current motherboard is maxed out with it's 4 Gig.

  5. New Islands emerge from the Sea (II)

As you probably know by now, giving up is not something I make a habit of, I've been here over five years, I've not given up yet.

The whole islands thing was annoying me, I had to go back. I tried various settings but the only thing that worked was reducing the quality of what I could see and therefore the images I could capture. Not much point on reporting this occurrence without some images to back me up.

I decided on a new approach, from the south to a different island. I went to Treasure Island North and from there I headed North, no vehicle was used in the making of this report! I did not want any more damage to be sustained by The Bad Moon Rising so I swam it. The image shows the new island in the distance, looks like a nice place so far, nice sandy beaches, warm environment, could be a good place for me to settle when I retire.

I headed up the beach looking for some natives, I was close to using all my RAM so I had to be quick. The first native I found was an Allophyl, it did not remain a native for very long! The Allophyl despatched, dismembered and looted I headed further inland. I tried scanning the cactus, alas they did not contain any mescaline. Oh well at least it was warm and there was a lot of beach, should be a good party island.

It was at this point I spotted three scorpion like creatures, scorpion like in the same way a brick is like a cathedral. They were big, you would not need to check your shoes for these, if one was hiding in a shoe you would notice, even if you were some huge footed clown with particularly oversized shoes you would not need to look twice. I did what any sensible colonist would do in this situation, I drew a small blade and charged the smallest of the three, not even stopping to put my armour on.

I was doing quite well against it, a Sabakuma took an interest so I sent that after the Allophyl before continuing against my main opponent, sadly the contest was cut short when a memory error was reported, I discovered I could continue but by then I had taken too much damage to recover and was killed just as I equipped the FAP. I am looking forward to trying these again. I suspect I may be able to take them without armour but that it would be a hard fight, armour is probably prudent and of course RAM would be useful too!

  6. Great reporting there! I've also been exploring the new islands, and there's certainly some interesting new creatures on them. Worth mentioning, is that the second of the new islands going east from Treasure Island has a toxic zone on the western end. If you are 'retired' you will end up at a revive point on a powerboat half way between the two islands!

  7. Thanks Nexus :). I'm planning on trying that one next, trouble is I do not get very long to get some snaps :).

  8. I plan on trying to get the middle of the three new islands as well. So far I just have two TPs for the island south of Medusa and one on the island north of TI. After ending up on the motorboat, I then TP-chipped once towards the first island but landed in the water! After the second jaunt, I landed right infront of one of those huge six-legged arachnids; or Rextelum's. Needless to say I got killed and ended up at the revive in Naval Station Triton. Irony with this was, I had flown over that area in the Vtol as low as possible beforehand, but no blue-dot was showing on the scope - lol! :)

  9. ---Mini update---

I have discovered that the eastern end of the middle island is also toxic, so you can't explore that island without an anti-toxic shot.
