While here on Next Island waiting for the 29th patch I thought I would ask a few questions. What exactly is a Planet Partner? Do they need to pay any type of monthly fee? I ask since lootable space has been released I haven't seen all that many people here anymore and was wondering if this has any effect on the owners of NI at all?
Entropia platform - Business Model As far as I understand it, revenue is split between the PP and MindArk. No people = no revenue.
Hello OZtwo, At a high level, each planet in the Entropia Universe is a planet partner. Next Island of course is one such example. Generally, here is an excerpt from the Entropia Planet Partner business model page (Entropia platform - Business Model ): "MindArk has an uncomplicated, yet effective business model. It is based on the fact that both MindArk and the Planet Partner brings something to the table in order to create a new flourishing interactive environment together - a new unique planet in Entropia Universe. Once the planet is up and running, MindArk and the Planet Partner, shares the revenue. "In the collaboration, where both parties contribute to the creation of a planet, MindArk provides the technology through Entropia Platform, know-how and a proven income model and the Planet Partners contribute with creativity, content and a budget for operations, marketing and other activities." Other links you may find information: Entropia Universe - The Planet Partner Concept Entropia platform - Planet Partners As you look around, explore and interact on Next Island, all the mythos (how and why the planet exists in game), missions, the look (terrain and mobs) and feel, and Non-Player Character interaction is envisioned, developed, and maintained by the Next Island Team. MindArk on the other hand, provides the over all world frame-work for each planet. Some examples include auction functionality, moving dynamics of vehicles, and randomized generators when you interact with the environment/mobs/other players (if you FIND something when mining or HIT/MISS a mob and HIT/MISS when interacting with another player in PVP zones). The above links can give a better visual of how things are tied together. Hope this little bit of information helps. Tom
Had a great time here on Next Island. My stay here for 34 days was great and I'll miss it. I hope you can work out the problems with MA to get more people out here. Once fixed, I'll be back to live!
