I just bought Elite Dangerous today. This evening I searched for 3D models of Elite and found this:

    and the homepage:
    https://renderdoc.org/
Really any DirectX game? Even Skyrim? That would be the blast for me. Okay, I bought Elite for PS4. But it sounds promising anyway. I will check this next days.

If this works with Skyrim, I will buy a new printer immediately. My hero in Skyrim is a good looking tough woman with sexy armor and cloth. Thanks to several mods she can perform a lot of poses. Additional I could form any character I want. Male and female. Armors and clothes of any kind.

Parallel it should be possible to grab Entropia Universe content, Fallout4 and Assassin's Creed Origins as well. OMG! Hopefully it'll really work!

    Bahhh ...

    Entropia Universe doesn't start.
Assassin's Creed Origins starts but the grabber message doesn't appear and the hotkey has no effect.

Here is the explanation from RenderDoc's documentation:

I hope you enjoy Elite, there is a rich resource of stories and lore. Several professional books. It is good immersion in VR too.

Currently it updated over and over again. At the first start I didn't got even all training missions ;-) Finally I managed to set up my PS4 to download updates in standby mode during the night. I am such a PS4 noob! Unfortunately it doesn't support PSVR yet because of quality issues. How ever. At least I am "Jamira" in the game and not "Commander Jameson" ;-)

hehe no work required to convert to CE3 at all then ;) (kidding)

In other news I discovered something exciting tonight! I can't help looking at these and hearing the terminator theme tune. That tower had... feeling...

Looking at that last one... I'm getting a distinct urge to be on that walkway on the left hand side... in VR... uuugh... might have to install Unity again just for that...

Also... this springs to mind... I can just hear that sound when I look at this thing. (4:51)

  12. Heard a sound around 5.05 that sounded a bit ominous.

  13. Aside: yeah let’s hang around gawping at a gigantic alien thing that can throw cars around and demolish buildings in your locality and fire lethal high-powered laser weapons.

Let’s get a bit closer to take pics and videos to share on social media. <lol>

  14. the tower 3d model is stil ingame ? :O

Sadly not. Someone should port it to CryEngine and send it back to them. And while MA do their "plonk" bit they can let me write a mission chain/story around it. (I would of course be soliciting ideas).

Not sure what is at Pandora these days? Got a feeling there is a lake? Or am I thinking of times way back when? The tower was near Pandora right?

South-East if I remember right. In the middle of a desert.
Regarding a comeback of the mighty tower.
I'm pretty sure it would be good enough for several different quests wich could end in a final mega-quest or event or whatever.

The author of RenderDoc, Baldur Karlsson, explicitly asks for feedback. Okay, I sent a mail:

    Hi Baldur!

Lately I stumbled about RenderDoc as a good way to grab 3D geometry from games:

Elite Dangerous is my theme at the moment. I want some geometry from this game to manufacture models with my 3D-printer. I need polygons for that like STL, OBJ or 3DS. What I see in RenderDoc is exactly what I want in my CAD (Rhino3D):

But exporting the geometry as CSV and importing it into Rhino doesn't work. All I get is this crap:
    upload_2018-4-17_0-14-49.png
My first question: Is there any chance to implement a feature in RenderDoc to export polygons like STL? It would be the blast!

Second: If this export will work than implement support for D3D9 please. To be able to grab geometry from my beloved Skyrim:

Let's see what comes out of it. I tested Blender with an import-plugin for CSV-files. But it didn't work as well.

    Quick and clear answer:

Using RenderDoc to extract copyrighted content from commercial products is not something I condone or support.
    Baldur

Okay, that's a statement I can understand and accept. I don't like it though.
