Robot Running at Camp Phoenix

    This is the intro' to 'Robot Running at Camp Phoenix' submitted to ES recently by one of our roving reporters. Hope EP members like it...

    [FONT=Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]On Saturday 29th, I arrived near the Camp Phoenix teleporter via Fort Ithaca with the aim of doing a solo robot hunt, something I hadn't done for a while. The first thing I noticed; aside from the black smoke still billowing out from the crater on the northern horizon, was the lack of other colonists. It was only about 3.pm in-game time, so this was slightly strange to say the least and I started to wonder why this could be.[/FONT]

    [FONT=Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]It couldn't be because there were robots near here as such, as there was nothing new in this, but I started thinking that maybe the spawning pattern had changed recently, and that more difficult robot types were nearer to the teleporter area than usual, possibly preventing new colonists from having a too easy time of it. Not that I was a new colonist...

    [/FONT][FONT=Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]However, I decided to do an initial reconnaissance run just to check which robots were where. With this in mind I started heading due-north in the direction of the crater, and after a few minutes came into conflict wih a Drone Generation 01 that suddenly came running at me accross the field out of nowhere. I was certain that I hadn't seen a red dot on the scope a fraction of a second beforehand, which I thought was a little bit sneaky; although in truth I've experienced this many times before - mobs suddenly appearing that were previously not there...
