ROCKtropia story: Virtual Good V's Evil

Sitting in my cell in No Way Out, I have plenty of time to think. A journalist asked me the other day "So what exactly do you do in ROCKtropia?" I told him not much these days, I just log in to stare at the walls of my cell and think. Yeah sure, occasionally I escape to keep an eye on things, but they don't call this prison "No Way Out" for nothing, the Guards and the Forum Trolls are on me like a heart attack, also the quest system never let's you forget you have made an un-authorized jail break and your sentence is extended...

So everyone knows that Good and Evil exists in reality, Humans and Demons (Sociopaths, Psychopaths) do good and bad things. Some bad things are downright Evil at least from the point of view of anyone on the recieving end of a really bad thing or even from the perspective of observers.The world is full of it and there is a constant struggle going on.

Nature seemingly does things without conscience too, Earthquakes, Floods, accidents etc, the results can be awful and tragic although we don't call them Evil acts, many people feel in those situations God has abandoned them, some people even call these occasions Acts of God... Misery and despair often flourishes in these situations, but hope usualy returns, people find inner strength, the spirit fights back and balance is restored.

On a chemical level there is also positive and negative energy, plus and minus, for and against, polar opposites, it's there and we all know it and we learn to live with it, we all struggle to find balance or we strive to be positive, sometimes we give in to the negative forces or embrace them.

But do virtual worlds have good and evil or are they neutral?
I imagine that post people think that they are neutral, they are simply what we make of them.. if we behave badly in a virtual world then we are simply bad, we the humans are bad, but the world is neutral.

But I do not believe that is the case, in the same way that the physical universe is made up of positive and negative forces, so is the virtual world, perhaps it wasn't always that way, perhaps at one time it was neutral, but not anymore,
definitely not since I opened Pandora's Box, or at least since I opened Pandora's box, I can now see how things really are. I'm now certain that there is a terrible void, that is very much alive in the fabric of our virtual reality and that it is all consuming, it's appetite is voracious and without conscience and to anyone touched by it, it is pure Evil...

I'm not sure if I am really to blame for setting it free, but I feel as though I am. I wasn't really aware of it until I opened the box. But now it's everywhere and in the form of a digital Virus that snakes between reality and virtual reality, it has found the secret to moving it's consciousness, it's essence between the physical and virtual world and I'm sure I helped it do it...

I was trying too hard to to make ROCKtropia real, I wanted it to be a place that people can go to make their dreams come true, like I have made my dreams come true and I think by opening Pandora's box and giving it that power I inadvertently gave it the power to destroy dreams.

That's why we are all in big, big trouble now.. For me it's easy to see, I just have to look at where I am or read what people think about me, everything I love has become corrupted, nothing is what it seems, it's obvious to me that there is an infection..

I know it's harder for others to understand, it's because Evil is very clever, it spreads lies, tricking people into taking sides against each other, Divide and Conquer is its Motto, it seeps into the bloodstream and poisons hearts, the darkness then takes the form of disillusionment, distrust, depression, self righteousness, anger, resentment, it touches everything...Everything has been touched, myself included.

That's why I had to open the gates to Hell, I need a way to fight back, we need a way to fight back, we need the evil to be incarnated into something tangible we can fight against, we are quickly tearing ourselves and each other apart and that is exactly what it wants.

We have to fight against it! We have to disinfect the Code and build a Firewall, we have to wage war against the Evil that is alive in our Universe..

I know that most people think I'm crazy and maybe I am, since I really do believe I have stared the demon in the face and still live to tell the tale..

The War may have not reached everyone's shores yet, but it has reached mine and I must do everything in my power to stop it here, before it consumes us all..

The Cyber Demons and the Demon Hackers in Hell are the starting point we have to hunt them down and eradicate them, we must find our way to the Pure Code, so that we can start the "disinfect..."

I fear the war will be long and very hard won, but on the bright side, if we can rally all those World of Warcraft fanatics to give up their play gold to fight a Real War instead of a fictional one, then we could put together a mighty army indeed.​
