Scammer Alert

  1. Scammer Alert
In the last couple of days i and a couple of friends have been soft scammed. Obviously I cant disclose the avatar name but I was initially approached and asked if I wanted to hunt to which I agreed. I hunted in team the first day using Skype to voice chat with no problems. On the second day the avatar introduced me to his disciple who is a really solid avatar. We all hunted together and later the original avatar invited another avatar I already knew into the team. We all hunted together and all was fine. Near the end of the run the original avatar said his gun had broke and could he borrow one to finish the run. I lent him a 35 ped gun and we finished the run. When I got up the next day I just felt something was wrong. I played again in the evening and the original avatar invited me to the same team of 4 and we started hunting again. I sent a private PM to the original avatar asking for my gun back, too which he responded that he had used the weapon up. He then logged off. I continued to hunt with the other 2 avatars (which was great). An hour or so later the original avatar logged back on and joined the team. This time in open chat on skype I asked if he was going to reimburse me for the gun to which he responded that he thought I was being silly for asking for the money for the gun. It then transpired that the avatar I already knew had lent him some chips on the basis that he would pay her back when he depo'd. He had never paid her back. He then lefft the team and started lambasting he disciple for continuing to hunt with us. He unfriended my avatar and the avatar I had previously known started to chat with him saying that it wasn't acceptable to behave the way he had. She then unfriended him and he responded by unfriending his desciple who is 50% completed (but did not boot him from the mentor program). His desciple confessed that he had given this avatar 100 ped to by him a pixie armour set. I asked him if it was adjusted and he said no to which I said that the armour was only worth 28 ped or so. It then transpired that the original avatar whilst advising his desciple was also scamming him for small amounts of money on a continuous basis. As a result of these incidents the three of us feel slightly cheated, however I have made 2 great new friends and we exposed a scammer before too much damage was done.

Let this be a warning to all players to be wary of anyone they meet. I have never been ripped off before in my two years of playing so I consider my self lucky, but there are devious people out there. Whilst I cannot divulge the name here are some detials.

    Avatar is from the UK
Avatar exclusively wears Viceroy Skullcandy Armour
Avatar with likely approach you first
Avatar with claim too have very little ped but can afford to hunt with sollomate opallo
Avatar likes to hunt ambu, small argo and big berycled
Avatar seems very friendly and will ask you to join Skype chat
Avatar willl have constantly talk to his wife/children while playing
Avatar claims to have frozen shoulder
Team setting will be set to healer loot and Avatar will be inacative for periods at a time.

I consider myself an experienced player but I and two others were taken in by him, please dont let it happen to you.

  2. BTW - are the rules different here for naming and shaming scammers from PCF. Please advise as I will post the avatar name if that is allowed, but wont if the forumn rules forbid it

Tyvm, for reporting, there's indeed no rule at all for these kind of things, so it's a matter of 'good judgement' whether or not to name potential scammers.

My personal opinion: potentially scamming avatars are to be named, best with screenshots and what not, but please no exposing of off-game identities (such as skype names).

RAZER Custom title ... uh ...

Thanx for the heads up indeed.

I agree with Tass that scammers should be named, but I do believe there needs to be proof like screenshots or anything else, otherwise you could point out anyone as scammer and hurt their name if it turns out to be a mistake, a misunderstanding or someone just saying someone is a scammer because they don't like him.
