Since the developers dont know what a turret is....

  1. Hey guys,

I was trying to map next island revivals, untill i got to a revive full of a million papoos, to the point you cant heal fast enough to get to the teleporter to escape.
Nor any TT to get basic things like ammo.

    So...

Since the developers dont know what a turret is im not going to bother logging in for anything other than chat, ill just leave my avatar there dead, sure i could get my ass rescued, but i have no ingame plans untill the 9th other than revive mapping next island, and to do that, i need to be able to revive at all revives multiple times. Its just not worth my time trying untill this if fixed, i have a million other things that need doing untill the time its fixed (which i hope for everyones sake, is sooner rather than later)

I would hope this stupid thing will be fixed BEFORE the CES Launch, as at this moment in time, the current state of the planet is UNSAFE for mass population.

Could the developers please be so kind to tell me when this stupid mistake/bug/whatever it is will be fixed so i can continue with my gameplay please? So i can continue getting my service prepared for touring on this planet (Entropia Tour Agency - Home)

    Regards,
    Stave

Please Note: This is in no way a protest or a strike or anything related, i just simpilly have no plans ingame untill the 9th, so im just not bothering to do anything about it, and deciding to either wait for the developers to fix it. If it gets to the 9th and its not sorted, ill just get my ass out of there one way or another so i can get on with ingame plans, and come back to it at a later date. Since its that festive season as well as many other things i need to do, im away from the computer more than normal anyway.

Not sure what the current status is with turrets, not been ingame much over the holidays, but assume it is well underway getting sorted. The first one active was reported on the 22nd http://www.nextislandlife.com/general-discussion/448-first-turret-morion-outpost.html and then ND posted on the 28th (an update day apparently) that revive prayers had been heard http://www.nextislandlife.com/general-discussion/421-no-turrets-2.html

Fingers crossed that this and much else gets kicked into gear before CES as well, by whoever has the power to do it, NDS or MA, idk. I know it is frustrating Stave, but geez, I will come rescue you if you promise to then put on your armour and carry your fap, as some areas do have mobs a lot harder than the village monkies and boars :)

  3. Turrets will be coming in NEXT VU, the reason we left turrets out is because I believe we have had trouble making them... And we were resisting using the Mindark Generic versions...

But we are now putting this Creative consideration aside and adding turrets, everywhere, if we miss a spot let us know.

  4. yay....
VU will bring alot of fixes and new items... This will be a GREAT day for N.I.!
    :D

  5. The Morion turrets are rather cool. Though perhaps large stone heads like those on Easter Island could also be used, and their protection radius extended.

Also instead of shooting invisible beams of death or lasers, why not have a lightning bolt come down from the sky and strike the mob dead? Would be very islandish, IMO.

  6. Thanks for the reply ND, Glad to hear they will be here soon :))

& lee, im in no rush to get these maps done, and id rather wait for the update, than have to fight my way to the TP every 30 second when mapping revivals :P

Got lots of stuff i need do to ;)

  7. Lightening bolts would be very Next Islandish. I second that idea :cheer:

  8. It doesn't help the situation when there are players actively dragging mobs to the revivals in the belief that they can get a bunch of free skills:(
I've seen avatars of many levels standing around revivals getting repeatedly killed and even if you clear a route to the tp they won't attempt to escape.
I have no great moral objection, but I think it's a bit selfish as it costs an armoured player peds in armour decay, fapping and ammo to clear the revival. It unfortunately could cause a new player to write the game off, I'm also pretty sure it's a less effective way of aquiring skills than say sweating.
So please NI get us our turrets!

  9. Its not a belief. Its a fact. Ive talked to people who have been testing this, and within an hour they were able to pull their newbie avatars from 0 evade up to 120 points. I can only imagine the yields for those who have been doing it nonstop for the past week. There are a few who definitely have been going this route. I've no objection either. Theyll make a few PED selling the skills if they get hold of an ESI, but its really not a consequential amount.

  10. Having no turrets is a double edged sword it means a new avatar can't turret sweat which is a shame (it's how I started), my only objection to this skilling approach is that when an avatar intentionally brings a mob train to a revival it can cause serious problems/cost to an avatar that spawns there unintentionally, I'm lucky enough to have the kit to fight my way out but new players may have such a negative reaction to being trapped that they give up the game. Its bad enough that new players get spawned in places like serpentine where the mobs are spawning all over them to such an extent that they are being killed before they finish the character creation process. (as relayed to me by a new player this happened to) without people actively bringing high level mobs to revivals. took me half an hour to get free of a revival with 6 wild boar old alphas. couldn't even get to the tt to rearm. like I said, bring on the turrets.

ps. also liking the lightning bolt idea, better than those creepy turrets that track your every move:)

I can understand and appreciate some tps without turrets, but i think all revivals should have them.
Its just to frustrating for new players to get trapped, and for experienced players to get decay on an activity they didn't choose :/

  12. We need some turrents near the boars my armour is taking way too much decay and its way out of order.
