Space - Lootable. Will you go to other planets?

I didn't realize this was a necro-bump and reading through was really surprised at so much fear of space this late in the game. It's nice to go back and look how things have changed from our first predictions. MA has leveled the playing field so you don't have space-ubers dominating the PVP zone and ruining things for everyone else, like you would in a regular PVP zone. Anyone with a quad flies just as fast and can shoot just as far.

How do you figure?? 80 ped round trip, goodness, you could charter an entire mothership for yourself for less than that. In fact, the cost of traveling from one planet to another has come down 10-fold from the time when we had TPs.

It was 40 ped one-way then. When space came out it cost about 25 ped per trip thanks to the 500 ped thruster (not to mention the cost of 3000 ped quad!), now it's down to about 4 ped. That means I can make 10x as many trips as I could when there were TPs. I can pick up and go to another planet on a whim now, where before it would be a major (and rare) decision. I also like that half the costs are being put back into the economy, to crafters (thruster) and miners (oil) instead of all 40 ped disappearing into the ether. It took a while, but it's nice to see that interplanetary trade of lootables has been thriving now for several months, now that motherships can make the journey safely and inexpensively.

 

Yep, OK - I stand corrected on that ;) I was thinking in terms of when space first came out when thrusters were going for high prices in auction - but you're right, space travel has come down a lot since then...

 

I want space to stay lootable,
at this point there is no reason for the community to whine.

as there are 3 ways you can skip a pirate.
1. you can smuggle yourself in a way pirates can't find you.
2. you can fly with a mothership and log off before it get's killed to save your loot.
3. you can fly with a ms that bugs it's warp so that pirates can't even catch you.

In my opinion.. this gives the community a 100% safe space situation.

But you are the one whining here. It's kind of funny really. You are whining that you like how you can steal from others and want it to stay that way.
