Targeting and auto-use hot keys - Thoughts?

  1. Hey all, I think this might relate to your thread on PvP McCormick but I wanted to ask it seperately as it's a growing frustration of mine.

Do people find the Targeting stuff in EU annoying at all? Specifically the next target and select previous target specifically. I started using the Next Target/Previous Target options from the action book with the auto use key, as well as auto loot. The aim was to see if I could speed up hunting.

The problem is I have no idea how it selects the next target. It kind of works but I do find it seems to select targets at random in the area rather then do something logical like select nearest target.

My only thought is that each mob has some unique ID when spawned and the targeting just selects the next one in the sequence of IDs. Although I have found if you use previous target it seems to select something completely different or just selects the dead mob you haven't looted.

It also seems to have problems with terrain and if the mob is behind you, there seems to be a delay before it realises to turn you especially with auto-use :-)

I actually thought it was next nearest target that got selected....Might be wrong so will have to test.

  3. just drag out the health bars and aim at those. Makes it a lot easier. :)

  4. It's not you. More or less next target has been messed up for a while now. All joking aside of what it could be, I most likely think it has to do with the roaming of the mobs. Next Target is set when you select the first target. So as you go through the target list it seems a bit odd as they move around. I found the best way to get around this is before selecting next target to first click on the ground near you and this will reset it back to the nearest target to you.

Or as well, this hole system I just typed has been added were before Next Target simply just selected the next closest target and didn't have a cache system setup as it is now.

but joking cap on Next Target is setup:

    - To only select the no looters
    - if no looters lowest looted mobs in area
    - Mobs that have no skills
    - Mob which will give MA the most decay to kill
    ..
