Edit - this is really nothing worth preserving for posterity but since people are asking ;) A mediocre performance with a good team (or bad enemies) so we won this match in MechWarrior Online: > Reason for upload was only to figure out the technical parameters so that it wouldn't get downsampled by YouTube. Thanks again for the hints, it seems to have worked at last. Not sure which setting was decisive; previously I used flv container format, my native monitor resolution at 16:10 and a higher compression setting than recommended now. I probably need to change at least my screen if I want to record something. Can be deleted if found redundant or the thread reused for other testing purposes.
It doesn't matter, was just for a video upload test. I was actually searching if there existed a sandbox thread already but couldn't find one at once.
It uses an older CryEngine, too... Another game with a long history, not quite as old as Elite but I had an earlier version of it on my first 486 pc.
Older than CE2? Graphics looks a touch better than in EU and the level of detail of the mech's dashboard is hopefully something like what EU will get with UE5.
I'm not sure which version of CE it's based on but I don't think it's older than that. The above was played in medium settings, what this means is a bit different for every game. The level of detail actually can be quite good in both games or other CE-based titles if you use high or very high settings. Entropia's engine also has received a lot of work to its internals over the years which probably makes it only harder to maintain and upgrade. Whatever you hear the critics say, the programmers at MA are neither lazy nor incapable. It's easy to fall into a pattern when you're angry about something.
Yep, so one's perception of graphics quality is also greatly down to one's graphics card/gpu setup. So CE2 could look worse than CE1, and so on and so forth...
BattleTech. I always wanted to check that out. I played the Pen & Paper in the late 1990 once but didn't really like it. I'm not skilled enough anymore for PVP action in any game but I'll definitely check out the BattleTech TBS, probably same engine base as their Shadowrun games which I really like. Back to the test subject. If you've uploaded 16:10 to YouTube that might have been a big part of the issues, as it was probaly re-rendered to 16:9 by YT.
