OK even though I never heard of this game it created a bit of a fuzz on EF because a post from David|MindArk telling us about it got deleted. But thank god we can say stuff about this here :) http://www.prod.there.com/info/announcement http://www.there.com/
Check out the dance moves in the brief clip of the nightclub during the main screen video. Given the avatar quality and those os so similar dance moves, I'd say you found what NextIsland used to create that initial promotional video with "Egypt World" and the "Ha!" comedy club.
As i said in the Locked thread: Thank you David for warning us of what is to happen to EU Nah, just a joke ofcourse. But im really Curious about why he started the thread, did he just do it to Mock that game and show that EU is such a Succes? Pretty bold to do, one cant really now what`s around the corner.
I didn't read the thread ... I didn't follow the link... but if this wasn't David's game and with the restriction rules on EF (which has always been there btw) it beats me, why he would post something like this. I never heard of there, I don't know if it was a real competitor to EU - and still, I find it really bad taste to dance on someones grave ... NOT that is probably was meant like that - it just appeared like it somehow, when we all know that David is a part of EU ...
Were there any comments made by David in regards to the post? From what I've been reading on EF I just think it was meant well (a confirmation of Entropia in the RCE market) but backfired badly. But since I did not manage to read the content of the original post I too was hoping to understand the true intention of such a thread. David : "Hello pretty lady!" Generic Female : "Hi!" David : "Did you know that my brother is a convicted serial killer specialized in women like you?" Generic Female : "Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!" *Lady runs away while screaming and waving her arms* David : "No don't run away! I just meant to say that 'I'm different!' SHIT!" *DELETE DELETE DELETE DELETE*
Hmm, interesting. I wasn't a There user myself, but I'm a Second Life user and developer, so naturally I've heard about it before. The weakest pups of the litter are the ones to die first, there is simply not enough nourishment for all. Also reminds me of Google pulled the plug from Lively To be honest there is little to relate to There with Planet Calypso at least. I'd still like to know what David exactly posted on his... post. Including comments regarding it.
David didn't make any comment that I saw, he just posted the announcement (the first one in Razer's post). Never heard of it myself.
Correction he didn't post the announcement but just the link to the announcement. So Davids post contained only a link to the announcement and absolutely nothing else ...nada, zilch :) the link he posted was: http://www.prod.there.com/info/announcement
Yeah i read the thread he made with the link, but what i still dont understand: Why even bother to do that, and in General Discussion part of the forum?
There is more of a competitor to second life than it is to EU. EU and there has nothing in common really. But There and Second life has.
why did david post this? duh look out PA here comes another newb rush as "There.com" users go find a new home one that will be around forever. so lets try and take care of these people they could be a real bump and asset to Entropia. i.e. head over to the There forums and point them here.
Chop chop, off you go then. Something many of us would have done if MA: Did not promise the world and rarely ever deliver, Stopped procrastinating and put systems that are still missing back in place, including Mindforce & Mentoring to support the basic "try before you buy" newcomer activities to see if their is actually any value in becoming involved in the Entropia RCE environment. Did not say something then do something different. Did not try and pass off Entropia as a free-2-play game like www.mytheongame.com or www.perfectworld.com where it is actually free to play and players have the option to purchase additional currency add on packs to enhance their gameplay. Did not screw around with players investments such as shops, hangars, land-area remodeling as if they owned it after they sold it off to their partiicipating clients with the obligation to now to ethically support these virtual assets they no longer legally own having sold them. Had an events system that was stable and servers which did not fall over left, right and centre . Etc. I could write a post several screen lengths, but I think you get the point. Please do not ask the players to promote a crippled service of which the service provide has in many cases greatly damaged trust and confidence in their operation and reputation of investment into it. It will only bring more harm than good to the opinion of the broader gaming community about Entropia. As much as I like Entropia, MindArk and FPC has a lot of growing up to do in operating an ethical and responsible financial services business before I would even dare to "further" put my reputation on the line to promote their service more than I already have in the past. Not directed at you Rex, just stating how many feel at present. Once major improvement and reform comes about, it will be a different story. It must suck to be David @ MA and to feel the need to ask the players to once again bullshit about Entropia to lure new people to Entropia rather than knowing that this would be a natural act done if the players where confident & satisfied with the service, even on its most fundermental systems level. Reality bites and it hurts all of us who are involved with Entropia at present. Never the less, it seems like you will be a busy Mentor. I wish you the best of luck with the task at hand.
After the fuss about the threat from David being deleted (or maybe he did it himself) I decided to send him a PM asking for the link he posted. Today I got a reply with the link and David telling me that he thought it was a bit silly that the threat got deleted because that new was pretty big in the virtual world. I told him in a reply that he is luck to be able to post at all after that because our account are being locked when we even think about WoW on there :) and pointed him to EP Anyway this should clear up some of the speculations about this, it seems David just wanted to post the big news and NeoMaven removed it because it is in conflict with the forum rules.
