Is it me or every single post here is to tell how bad MA are? I remember the days when it was different.
Ok, my opinion. What EntropiaPlanets is about can be read in the mission statement. Nowadays the majority of EP content is on the wiki, 99,9% of that is positive or neutral and in the first place existing to support the players of EU, hence a huge pro-EU asset. It's about the same with non-wiki editorial content on EP, 99,9% is positive or neutral. Another important aspect of EP are discussions. These discussions reflect a broad variety of opinions, with some of them one might agree, with others not. Nevertheless any opinion should be respected and everyone should be encouraged to voice their opinion, variety is great. A seemingly continuous negative attitude towards EU/MA for sure has its reasons, no matter whether one does understand/agree with/deny them or not. Influencing these very reasons is beyond the means of EntropiaPlanets. But one of reasons why a negative attitude towards EU/MA can be found on EP regularly is the fact that people are not allowed to voice their concerns elsewhere within the EU community. That is a deficiency of other places, not one of EntropiaPlanets, "free speech" is not a fault, it's a virtue. Personally I find it extremely unfortunate that some people with a generally positive attitude towards EU/MA do not contribute to EntropiaPlanets in a positive way but to the contrary, mainly by restricting their activity just on criticizing other people's seemingly negative attitude towards EU/MA, or in the words of some: they are "whining" about the whiners. You want EP to be more positive? Just do it!
I would have picked "Banana", but after reading Tass her reply i was confident with a resounding "no".
Banana! All the way! Add: some people find when they do post positive remarks, they are quickly labeled a fanboy. The same can be said when someone posts a negative remark, they are labeled as whiners. Simply put, it's the way some people post that gets them in trouble. If it's harsh and abrasive, it's hard to see the positive remarks they have placed inside the content of their text. Similarly the overly positive people tend to be misread and the underlying context of "they need to improve, but it's getting closer" is overlooked. Truly in the end the same thing is being said, we like EU, but yes there needs some improvement. "The betterment of EU" Maybe some people need to go back and practice their writing so their actual point is expressed clearly! That's why most newspapers are written at a grade 8 level! True fact!
Turning into? it has been for the last months already. One of the reasons i hardly post here anymore.
Feel free to post positive stuff as well and not just complain about the negative. The scoops from the past, well it seems the PP's have learned from that and are hiding their stuff better these days :)
Hmm... I have to confess I've been rather negative about MA this year and largely on here. So I must take some of the blame if things have got overly negative. That said I voted Banana cause how could I NOT vote Banana?! I think maybe in my case I'm just a little frustrated by MA's slow release pattern for the last 2 years and that even at that pace they keep messing up things that were not broken before due to what I can only attribute to poor testing standards... or perhaps (as I'm beginning to suspect) a staff shortage. Maybe I should just try another planet or something. I am finding Entropia isn't getting much time at the moment. Most of my gaming currently is 3DS based with some Tomb Raider intervals on the PC
I voted banana because I think it's both. Yes, there is a lot of negative MA stuff, but considering some of the choices over the years and/or ways things have been done (or not as the case may be), it's no surprise really. That said, it's a two way street, some people are bad at giving criticism, others bad at taking it.....and always the fight is in the middle. Many people write certain individuals off as a whingers, but very few take the time to actually read their posts (in a long term context and not just a short term or individual post one) and think about what they are saying INSTEAD of what they think/assume is being said. Even the most negative post will always have a grain of validity, same as an overly positive (fanboi/fanboy) one will as well. The secret is being able to read around or through all the guff to find it. If you can't or don't have the patience to, then just ignore it, you will be happier for it I guarantee.
I haven't been on this forum much over the years as I mostly frequent PCF and PAF. I don't have a problem with the moderation on those forums as the moderators\admins are enforcing the policies that are in place but I do disagree with some of the policies. One of the things I like about this forum is the attitude to "free speech". We can actually address scamming, piracy and other problem behavior in much more specific detail, discussing the actions of individuals. On the other forums you have to stay very general, which in my opinion is kinda useless and allows scammers and other douchebags to escape the reputation consequences of their shitty behaviour. So I like that this forum is different in that way. I also think that it's good that this site allows a lot of leeway in criticising MA and the PPs. However, my perception is that much of the criticism I read here is historically based and not as valid today. I've read quite a few posts that are clearly ignorant of events and changes over the last 12 months. "what have MA or PPs done for us lately?" Well quite a lot actually. "Are they ever gonna delver taming?" Yes and they've told us when. I'm not talking about vague roadmaps but announcements about next releases etc."Will they actually deliver and will it be any good?" Well that's a fair question but it's not one that can really be answered with anything other than "I reckon...". And when future changes are announced, the prediction here seems to be that they will be shit, that MA is only doing it to screw us out of more money etc. When we have an entrenched assessment of a person, company etc, then its a very human behaviour to filter observed actions in a way that reinforces our beliefs and to assign motivations based on those assessments. In that sense the fanbois and doomsayers are really two sides of the same coin. Personally I prefer to take a positive approach because my life is much brighter then. That doesn't mean that I ignore problems or excuse arseholes but my default response is to look for the good. I think this forum is at a crossroads. It's clear that your participant numbers are significantly down. So the question for the owners to answer to themselves is what is their vision for the future of the forum? How do they get there from here? There is no doubt in my mind that the current profile of posts is generating an image problem. When I read the posts here I see (IMO) a volume of ill-informed criticisms of the game. I see a lot of bickering. I don't take the position held by some that people who aren't currently playing should piss off. If you have an interest in the game then participate however you want. But I do think you should criticise based on knowledge of what is actually happening now and I don't really see how you can do that if you don't play, don't pay attention to other forums, don't pick up on information provided my MA or the PPs. And really, if you don't like the game anymore, don't trust the developers, then isn't the best option to cash out and move on to find something that makes you happy? Life is too short to waste on stuff that brings you down. Fuck that shit. Regards, KikkiJikki
I voted no. Because I loved this game for so long. And all I've said in the past - positive or negative, here at EP or at PCF - was meant to keep this game attractive for regulary paying elder participants (I joined in 2005 and am at level 87, I paid ~250 ±50 Euro per month). I did cash out meanwhile because I've lost trust in MA to bring it back to an interesting game. It is just an expensive grinding game meanwhile. Boring and less community orientated. Most threads and posts here name this fact - but arn't negative. At the end of the day MA decide if folks like me will come back one day or not.
Yep, true words. So did I. Grabbed some 6 or 7k Euro from MA, left the game and went to Tamriel (The ElderScrolls V: Skyrim). Yesterday I came back to Calypso to renew some old relationships from the glorious past regarding WoF. Hey, I still own my WoF Winnerjacket from 2012 ;-). Judging WoF matches is one of the last points I am interested in. I can't participate in hunting anymore because I sold all my good gear. But I assume that hanging out at WoF startingpoint is the last relict from Project Entropia/Entropia Universe's former social aspect wich is worth to be involved in. That's not meant negatively. Times change, things change. Adopt it, or leave it. I agree with KikkiJikki. But parallel it should be allowed to tell others how sad I feel about all this changes. I really loved this game once - nine years not only playing but engagement. Buy one of Monria's apartments KikkiJikki and you would buy an apartment designed and built by Ulla Jamira Braun. That's something I am proud of. And ask others, like Hurrikane, what they think about my engagement. So I claim the right to feel blue in public. P.S. BIG THANKS to Lykke and Peter for still running this last refugee!
Well Lykke has left the forum when she got employed by Cyrene and Narfi, Tass and myself bought shares in EP and are shared owners with Peter.
Thank you. But doesn't change my mind. So I have to thank Peter, Narfi, Tass and you! Just installed the "Frostfall"-mod for Skyrim and am up to figure it out ;-) So I'm really not up-to-date. Sorry.
Yeah hard to believe anyone could have bad things to say about MA.... I know it's hard for some to deal with not having Nazi moderation to quickly remove the truth.
You need to remember there is a difference between active and non-active players saying bad things about MA. I found that most of all posts removed from PCF are from the old time players who just post to troll about how the game was back in 2003 and 2005. I myself bitch about MA all the time and none of my posts have been removed. Oh Yes, I do bitch about MA a lot..the only diffidence again is that I'm an active player talking about what MA should be in the future and not again what it was in the the past for a few users who some how are stuck in the past thinking it was all great and beautiful. So is this forum anti MA? Of course not. Is the active user base of this forum anti-MA? Well yes mostly due to no moderation. There is a good and a very bad to moderation. Yes is sounds good but due to there really being none here it has pushed most of all the active forum users away from this forum because they are tired of hearing about all that MA was and how it has failed.
