I played Trackmania Nations a long time ago and really liked it. Back then you only had 1 car to choose form and a lot of tracks. Downloading it again right now to see what has changed.
The free version is still one type of car ;) but you have a lot of skins. The paid version has 6 or 8 different types of cars and tracks.
