Great minds think alike... I was actually just having that VERY same thought while making coffee just now.

You are right, it will be a slow burner. Well I've been logging in every day to check discoveries and so far seen only 2 CCP's "discovered". I think I'll leave it now and maybe check again at Christmas.

On scanning I got a skill message on a hiryyuu little or whatever it is and got just 0.08% increase O_O
Will have to do some more testing.

Why MA nerfed the most boring thankless activity in the game I will never know.
