This page in the wiki: http://www.entropiaplanets.com/wiki/Virtual_Tycoon has dead links in it and is completely useless for anyone that doesn't have access to Google Play. Even to use AppBrain you have to have access to Google Play. I own a Samsung Galaxy S now, and Virtual Tycoon has a bug which I've reported that requires fixing on that device. Who knows how long it will take them to fix it. I also have a Kindle Fire HD which previously I could download the app from the direct link on that page and install it on my Kindle Fire and it at least sort of worked even though it keeps losing it's connection with the server. The other day I forgot to logout. Therefore the app locked up and repair was hopeless, so I had to uninstall it, and I went back to that page to find that you could no longer download the app from that page you had to use Google Play. Amazon has made it impossible to get access to Google Play on Kindle Fires. I understand that I'm not the only one with a device that has this type of app control. If you're going to have a page that supposedly gives access to a dead zip file to a Blue Stacks Windows version and no access to anyone other than people who can access Google Play then the page is basically worthless to me and a lot of other people. It doesn't have any information that we can't get from the official announcements anywhere on it. It wasn't always that way. There used to be a direct link to the apk file right on the page. It's been removed. I'd like to know why we no longer have access to the app?
a.) This app is not made by MindArk. b.) "Project Whitecard" got hired to do this app...they won the NASA contest that MindArk did NOT win. c.) Look at the rating and last update (june 2013) Now guess when you will get your fix / update...LOL ;P Welcome to Entropia ! http://www.projectwhitecard.com/pwc/pwcdru/node/80
It takes a community to keep a wiki updated :) Those instructions look confusing to me as well, perhaps when you have it figured out you can update the page :) Basicly what it is discussing is using the Bluestacks emulator (it is an Android Emulator for Windows) and then installing Virtual Tycoon on it and running it. You wouldnt be using your phone or your kindle, it would be on your PC. I know there are tutorials out there for installing the google playstore on Bluestacks, so once that is done it would be a very simple matter to use it for installing Virtual Tycoon.
All right, I'll give it a try and see what I can do. I tried Bluestacks once, and it hosed my machine, but maybe they have fixed it by now. You'll have to forgive me. I was just very frustrated.
Tyvm for reporting. The wiki pages have been updated, the BlueStacks/Virtual Tycoon bundle is available for download again, and a Virtual Tycoon APK only download has been added.
Oh thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, and thank you, and I'm not being physitious. I really am grateful. I added some instructions to the page linking back to this thread of the more manual way to do it if someone wants to be sure they have the latest updates (as if there have actually been any since June of 2013). This app saves me loads of time and headaches. I can easily swap between a full list of all my inventory (blueprints I have, etc...) and the auction to be sure I'm not bidding on things I already have. It is remarkably useful. I recommend it to everyone. If you don't want to run it on your Android device then run it on your PC. It is definitely worth the trouble. My apologies for becoming annoyed. I just needed the app so badly, and was so discouraged when I discovered I couldn't get it that I lashed out. For that I'm sorry.
