I am a guy that likes to get as much human interaction as possible while playing any type of online game and in Entropia it´s more vital than ever to interact fully with others.

    Skype:
I have used Skype while playing WoW. It was a great way to communicate BUT since one can´t have push to talk or voice activation you hear everything that is going on such as home noise, people talk, farts and what not :D

    Teamspeak:
I have also tried this option, again in WoW. I found it better than skype regarding the push to talk feature but the quality is way worse than Skype. But it was understandable and nice to use! If people just learn to use it the potential is great! But it does cost to have a server up and running. A professional server costs but many can host such servers on they´re home computer but then all the ones connecting to it will suffer from the bandwidth and such.

My prefferance is Skype if there are no more than 10 people. Above that Teamspeak is essential because of the clutter control! We could also divide professions in some way if over 10 people. Sweaters usually stay together so that is a plus ;)

English speaking is of course a must, at least when it involves me :)

    www.skype.com
There you can go to download the program which is 21.3mb and make an account as well. It´s free all the way unless you buy some kind of Skype credit to call real home phones. But that is a feature you´ll just learn about yourself hehe

So if you want to voice chat just reply here with your Skype name and I´ll add you and so will others that want to voice chat :)

  3. Is anyone interested in getting teamspeak back here at EuC?
Itto used to run it, but as the usage was so low I didn't bother when I took over.
    I could look into it?

  4. I think it would be fun to be able to actually the voices of my teammates :-) So count me in!!!

  5. We've used ventrilo with success, it's like teamspeak but maybe lighter. Skype might handle voice traffic better as it seems to have less latency and better sound quality compared to ts and ventrilo. Ts and ventrilo have advantage of separate server possibility, you don't have to wait for others to answer your call like in skype. They also have tangent (push-to-talk button) and voice detection which skype doesn't have. Ts and ventrilo can have different channels where everybody could join, and voices stay inside those channels.

Its easy to use and dont take much bandwidth

Ventrilo takes up less bandwidth than Teamspeak but because of it the quality is less with Ventrilo.
Teamspeak is widely used as a primary way to communicate in online games, at least 85% are TS users(estimated)
E-Lite on EF offered in the past a free slot on his huge server. I don´t know if he still does that but if he does it´s a free way for us to use Teamspeak but restricted to probably 2 channels or so due to the fact that we are not talking about a society but a whole community of forum users ;)

But till then I am open to any Skype session people would like to have :)
