Space is planned for introduction back into the EU, June 21st, and I wonder what changes will come and how space will affect Next Island. NI does not officially have any space port. Planet to planet teleportation will be disabled. Can anyone provide an informed perspective? Unfortunately I have no experience from the last time when hangers and space flight were allowed. By the way, I have read and viewed all the current posted EU information on the topic - HERE.
As far as I understand it: According to the latest buzz VTOLs can be upgraded so they can enter the stratosphere, where they can dock to a space station from where you need to find a lift to other planets, similar to the old days when we still had pilot queues. At a price of course. Without modded VTOL or hangars you will be able to at least TP to the nearest space station. How expensive the flight from one space station to another will be depends on how risky it is for the pilot to cross PVP space, how much decay, ammo and fuel will be needed. All in all I don't expect it to be more costly than the current 80 PED roundtrip for the passenger, but more interactive, exciting and realistic, yet perhaps also a bit less flexible as you always have to rely on pilots.
If your in space and enter PVP and the ship your traveling in gets blown to pieces what will happen to you? Will I be forever trapped floating in space? :)
LOL Doubt it. Have some Time Crystals ready in case you'll get magically teleported to the underworld. ;) Guess you will revive at the nearest space station then. Hopefully the one you were headed to in the first place.

Hey Tom, In the long term I would count on each planet partner producing their own type of "Hangar." The Calypso hangars are designed for Calypso residents, but each world seems to have a similar set of features available, with local twists. For the moment Next Islanders will be highly dependent on established planets (read: Calypso) and their populations desire to travel and maintain Space. This however wont be the same 2 years from now.
