If u haven't heard yet about http://www.aftertimediaries.com/ It is another EU want to be. But this one has made me wonder more then most when It was first announced. Why? Because it labels how many ways the game is going to be used to make you money. In fact money always seems to be talked about over gameplay in almost every instance. So I wait and wait as with every game they are late in programming. This is normal in the business so we all are used to not believing dates as true. That's no problem. So this week the devs talked about how they were going to use a bitcoin mining (not bitcoin but some other cyber-currency) behind the scenes so all users make money from playing the game. Sounds like you can make your client mine while your not playing to make even more money. So in that thread in their forum I mention I worry how we hear less about gaming and more and more about money. I thought it was a nice simple reply, giving the devs a chance to reply and tells us their side of the story. I hardly said anything sucked or I hate this game now or any shit like that. today that reply was deleted. Yep here we go. Another game where a simply reply to someone's response would have helped the community. But nope delete the message so nobody can see it. In my view this is why I am scared of this game and putting money into it...... When will devs learn?
Regarding EU ... never. At least it is not a task of developers but of marketing and the staff in charge to set the main goals
Their greatest advantage is that they (the atd devs) come from Entropia and know what the players like and what frustrates them the most. Their greatest disadvantage is that they come from Entropia and have the mindsets that come with that. Of course they will focus on the rce aspect, it is what made them love entropia and what drove them away. Interesting to me was that they have switched game engines and will be using Unity Pro now. It will be fun to see how that turns out for them and if they produce a high quality visual game, will really be an encouragement to hobbyists everywhere of what can be done with it.

They working very hard behind the scenes and have said they will release a free demo that everyone can try out for free. They mainly thinking about ways to generate money besides the game itself so that it will become more easy to support an RCE without spending to much overall for players. Think their project is worth tracking and depending on the demo i will decide to participate or not.
Dalewj still alive and kicking? :) Only 3 developers with former Entropia Universe gaming experience, the other 7 or 8 members not have played Entropia Universe... Still they do have the EU syndrome regarding item value... For the complete set of high-end gear + some shares they ask a astounding 1.000.000 AT$. In Entropia Universe money that would be 100.000 PED...
You really believe that game will ever launch? mining for coins, shares, paid alpha for free to play game, free demo of RCE game... and not a single picture showing some work for at least a year.
Sorry, someone like you i can not take serious, you think you know it all but you know so little... Same counts for your opinions about EU, it is very outspoken but based on assumptions rather than actual facts. (did read your blogs to base this opinion) And they did show some pictures, even as it shows little more than level design they still showed it. Not assume btw i think ATD is a gift from heaven, i putting doubts also at some features but rather wait with bashing them till we see how they are implemented and impacting the game.
Everyone can have his opinion. I will bookmark this post and show it to you 1 year from now and see who was right and was not.
Every one is trying to make a rce these days n every one of them seem to be eu old timers or some other why don't they just talk to MA and try and improve a broken game that exist already EU. why not help mindark make eu a better place. Don't forget about After World Survival rce
You talk about everyone trying to make a RCE these day, maybe you mean everyone talked about it for many years in EU, and for a reason... Entropia desperately implemented the planet partner system and the CLD to temper this movement but it wont take long anymore. They can keep selling moons and planets but it wont take away the fact some serious things are done wrong and going wrong. And indeed great to see After World Survival trying to continue again... Funny the developers from AfterWorld also openly disliked the RCE system from EU... Guess they see the same problems as the other developers from the other games who also not aiming to make a copy but something much better...

Do they want to create an immersive online feeling or a cash cow ? Or maybe both ? Indeed it feels strange to read about "exclusive payment options" right now, while nothing else has been published yet. Just like AindMark, that happily introduced paypal "lately", after calling it insecure for about 10 years, instead of introducing promised "content" or expanding storyline. Asking for $ to be able to test a product or selling expensive beta gear, will only lure in the addicted/depressed gam(bl)ers we all know about already. Isnt it about time to present "their world" and their spirit already ? Just like Anatropia/Misanthropia/Concretropia...etc. and it feels like ATD is looking for such exclusive gam(bl)ers in the first place. This is how a feel about ATD already and I havent seen anything but some screenshots. And I know they got some Entropia guys on board.

Anybody following the news about bit coin ? ? it's not in a good shape right now from what I've read in the news.
Bitcoin will be fine. It will keep bobbing up and down at the slightest sneeze for ages yet. Probably a good time to get into buying and selling it actually, just keep your eye on the news to spot the bad press. Or, start your own rumour. Write in a blog that bitcoin slept with your mum and spam it to your friends. Before you know it the price will have dropped again for you to invest your next chunk.
Good lord I just looked at ATD website for the first time! hahahahaha its Project Entropia with cryengine! Even the funding model is the same as they had in the entropia presweat releases ie you had to depo to play. Still, nice to see some familiar esk sites in there. I don't think it will be released though. Also don't MA have some sort of patent on RCE? Shame their mobs all look like stock earth animal models though. Booooring. One thing I can say (among others) is that the mobs on Monria are really cool! Wistrel PS lol have you guys listened to the music from ATD? Track 2 haha the start is soooo similar to something from early PE days.
