Wow. It kind of makes me happy that he sees this place as a threat. My only problem with that is that I really do think the sites could complement each other well.

I think it's about control. On EF 711 can set the rules and has a lot of control but on other forums he would loose his control.

 

The promotion/recruitment thing I can kinda understand....

But this I don't understand, if there is info here that I want to refer to over there and visa versa, why cant I??

He has articles and interviews from other sources posted there all the time, from all over the place. Why not from here ?

 

That is what we do not understand either. If you have any interest in your community you would provide them with the info available to make them updated! I agree 'recruiting' on EF might not have been wise, but that stopped long time ago.

Anyway, it won't be an issue on this forum. We will still be refering to all other sites dealing with EU and it's partners and planets! We will still make this forum based on not believing in competition but in partnerships.

Natasza! I believe you do not see the issue here. The issue is not in the community. We do not hold anyone from EF responsible for the forum rules there other than the administrator. That is the same in here - and on all other forums. We have no problems with who is posting or not here - the interest in the community is what hold us together. The people you refer to might be only a few. We also have no problems with EF really - and I agree with 711 in most of his facts - but I do not agree with the strict rules about linking to other sites and promoting an exclusive interview etc. Because I believe it is only in the communitys interest to get this information.

I think it is a damn shame to block for those kind of info because you are afraid of competition from a very small newbie forum like ours!

 

I can understand the recruiting thingy, but I'm on the same page as you guys with regard to linking to important information like articles and interviews that the whole community would be interested in. EF and EP are not presenting the same interviews, and the content is absolutely relevant to the players of EU.

My presence in EU may be less than 10% of what it used to be, but I still pop my head in at least once on the weekends with my socmates, and I'm still interested in reading about the development of the planets, as well as whatever else is going on with Calypso from an FPC perspective.

I think you guys are doing an amazing job with your interviews, and I really like how this forum is structured, not to mention how proactive you are with regard to what you are presenting to this membership. I see no reason why reciprocal sharing couldn't take place in that regard. I think you guys are a class act with what you're doing, and perhaps there is a tinge of competition felt.

Regardless, I just don't get why the interviews here which are really well done and jam packed with vital information couldn't be linked at EF ... that's a damn shame.

You do understand - I know you well enough.

I am talking about the EU community - both those who where and those who are. It is a whole - the community is not and should not be split up into us and them. Not the way I see it at least.

We are working with ideas to how to promote this site differently now - because it is a fact, that being able to show what is going on through the signature with the hottest interviews and your kindly threads about the same to inform the EF community is no longer an option. And we wish to make the players updated with all the new information about the Planets etc. some way or another!

Of course to EP it is now more than ever important to have your support, if you feel it's worth it of course, to help us promote the site through society sites/friends in game etc. - or if you have any ideas, we would be very pleased to hear them!

In return we will make sure the info/interviews on this site will not dry out and you can expect even more interesting things to be happening on EP in future ;)

Agreed. I would have thought it would be in EF's interest to link them from the front page.

Good idea. Another possibility could be in game functions/events or even advertising using in game adverts. This may attract a whole new base of users who don't use any forum.

How much does it cost to place an advert ingame? if not much I'll chip in a little bit towards the cost.

 

Ace my friend ... we must be in the same think tank, because I was mentioning the same things to Lykke about generating exposure for this forum. I've done plenty of ads in-game, not only when doing event promotion for ND, but my own as well for events. The cost varies depending on how long you want it to run, how many pages you have, and what percentage of viewing time you want. It can get costly.

Back to the other topic ... I was thinking perhaps, that the reason that 711 doesn't want links to the interviews at EF from EP, is that it will still give exposure and attention to EP, which at this point, according to what Lykke and Peter have shared, is what 711 is saying is not acceptable at EF. However, there are other things that can be done to up the membership, and I've been stirring in another think tank regarding this as well. :D

 

Hey George - yes using in game adverts is a possibility. We did that for a week (130 peds I believe on low vision) - and as far as I remember it did drag one member to EP :D

We are pondering about doing this again!

Banners on other forums also helps of course! And hopefully the future features we have up our sleeves will also drag some attention ;)

It is not because we are afraid of the EP future - we have lot's of things set up and lots of awesome people, who wish to help in different ways, wether it's on the Wiki, with pictures, with noobie-help quotes, promoting our site on radios, site links etc. (thank you all) everything - even the smallest thing, is helping.

I just find it such a shame, that the awesome interviews we make and the rest that will come is not available for a larger publicum - but I'm sure that will come.

More activity will make the forum grow and be strong and a huge help to a lot of players. Also concerning info about the new planets coming up.

But we should not be complaining. See how much we accomplished with the help of the community - and that only in 2 months!

So I was not able to give any information of the interview I had with David Post this past weekend.

 

Nothing will help EP get more members on the long run than EF running yet another censoring spree...
