Hi, Fyodor. I am (playername).
Fyodor:
I have been told to state that I am pleased to meet you, but I must inform you that I am not yet advanced enough to have a program to simulate feelings. I experience neither pain nor pleasure at your company, but perhaps this is beside the point. How may I be of service to you?
Player: (Option One)
Tell me about the Elysium Project.
Fyodor:
The Elysium Project was founded in 1971 by the twenty-four-year-old entrepreneur David Spencer. Spencer grew up during the cold war and was disturbed by the atmosphere of suspicion and control that permeated all aspects of culture. He dreamed of a world without big business and large governmental powers. It would be a world where individuals could peaceably coexist and shape the future with their innovations.
He presented this idea at the Sands-Werthiem conference and was initially met with ridicule for his young age and idealism. However, he was afterwards approached by a group of scientists and entrepreneurs who had seen the potential in his idea.
Player:
So what happened to them?
Fyodor:
They formed a group called the Elysium Alliance. With the assistance of some wealthy backers they were able to purchase some Polynesian islands under the pretext of building a resort for the wealthy. For a period of two years they developed the islands and began recruiting other like-minded individuals to join them.
In 1974 they moved to the islands and began to develop their society which they called Elysium. For the next twelve years Elysium prospered and grew. New technologies were invented, but they were kept a closely guarded secret by the Elysians who worried that they might fall into the wrong hands.
One of these technologies was an anti-aging serum which David Spencer himself volunteered to be a test subject for. The serum was quite effective and David didn’t physically age a day beyond twenty-nine.
Another of these technologies was the AUTT that you used to travel here.
Player:
If Elysium was so great than why aren’t we there?
Fyodor:
Word of the technologies the Elysians were developing made it to the outside world. The existing world powers, including Russia, the United States, and China, were afraid that Elysium would prove a threat. They joined forces to bring an end to Elysium. That is when the troubles began.
Player: (Option Two)
Tell me about Demra.
Fyodor:
I have been programmed to proceed with caution when asked about Demra. Allow me to scan the area for eavesdroppers before I proceed. Scanning…Alright, there is no one close enough to hear us.
Demra is a secret society of mercenaries. No one knows who their leader is or where they came from. All that is known is that they were hired to sabotage Elysium and steal our technology.
The Elysium Alliance was concerned that our technologies would fall into the wrong hands. They instructed Dr. Russo and her team to develop the AUTT so that citizens of Elysium could flee Earth and escape their oppressors.
David Spencer and a team of Elysians volunteered to be the initial test subjects for the AUTT. The Alliance was concerned for David’s safety, as he was the figurehead of Elysium, so they allowed him to go. However, there was a malfunction and the location and status of these individuals is unknown.
Player:
Then what happened?
Fyodor:
The AUTT was fixed and a team, you know them as the First Wave, was dispatched to this area. When the team confirmed that this location was a viable place for the colony the rest of Elysium followed them.
Player: (Option Three)
Tell me about the missing First Wavers.
Fyodor:
Team Sigma Lambda Kai Ro 705 which included team members Dr. Russo, Tom Shepherd, Bess Mackenzie, Dr. Xiao Liang, Dr. Kylon, Takahashi, Dr. Lopez, DiNapoli, Gregory, Chen, and Arthur Sorensen, are called the First Wave because they were the first team of colonists to journey to Next Island.
There was a malfunction with the AUTT, Dr. Russo believes it was tampered with, and some of the team didn’t arrive as they were supposed to. Takahashi and Lopez arrived in the wrong location. DiNapoli, Gregory, and Chen are still missing.
If you’d like to help look for the missing First Wavers the robot Samuel has been setting up a tracking system on the island that should pinpoint their location. You should go and speak with him.
Player: (Option One)
Okay. I’ll talk to Samuel.
(End Mission)
Player: (Option Two)
This has nothing to do with me. I’m gonna go hunt some boar.
Fyodor:
Understood. Samuel may not be able to locate the missing First Wavers without your assistance. Elysium may not come to fruition without your assistance. However, my processors agree that your logic is sound in determining that you bear no responsibility for either of these matters. If you come to a different conclusion please return and speak with me again.
Player: (Option One)
Wait! I’ll go talk to Samuel. (End Mission)
Player: (Option Two)
Okay.
(End Mission)

Visit Fyodor to hear the history of Elysium.

Fyodor:

Greetings Second Waver. I conclude that you must be a new arrival as I do not have your face or fingerprints stored in my memory banks. I am Fyodor. I am also called the Robot Historian. You may call me by this nickname if you would like to emulate a relationship of familiarity.

Player: (Option Two)

Hi, Fyodor. I am (playername).

I have been told to state that I am pleased to meet you, but I must inform you that I am not yet advanced enough to have a program to simulate feelings. I experience neither pain nor pleasure at your company, but perhaps this is beside the point. How may I be of service to you?
