Description
This small animal is often considered a pest because it likes to chew on everything, especially human property. On Calypso the name "turp" is therefore often used as a local word of contempt for someone who is causing trouble.

Name Explanation[edit]
Turp - resembles 2 similar words in Latin: "turpe" a disgrace & "turpis" foul, ugly, disgraceful, morally corrupt. Both have similar meanings and may be a description of the creatures character, since it always runs away at the slightest provocation. (I.E., it exhibits disgraceful {cowardly} behaviour.)
