Project Entropia Community Builds Memorial for Pop Star Tina Leiu
Project Entropia Builds First Ever Virtual Memorial in Honor of Tina Leiu, the Quintessential "Gamer Chick" Who Died Due to Complications From the Flu
MIAMI, FL -- (MARKET WIRE) -- April 12, 2005 -- Tina Leiu, aka Island Girl, died suddenly last month from complications surrounding the Flu. She was a Pop Star with a hit record in Europe (Spankox - to the club), had her own Erotic TV show on Cinemax (Hotel Erotica 2nd series), and was the beloved "Gamer Chick" in the MMORPG universe (www.TinaLeiu.com).
Tina was the inspiration for the Hit Song "Gamer Chick" written by her husband DJ Hound Dog, aka NEVERDIE. "Gamer Chick" was a huge hit on the Juke Boxes inside the MMORPG Project-Entropia, famous for being the only Virtual universe with a real cash economy and the recent sale of a Virtual Treasure island for $26,500. The "Gamer Chick Music Video" was filmed inside the Project-Entropia Universe and featured both the Island Girl and NEVERDIE avatars, and the video has remained at the top of the Video Game charts on ifilm.com for almost a year. Entropia-Pioneers website forums showed hundreds of Gamers mourning Tina's passing, prompting Project-Entropia developers, Mindark, to create a Memorial Island inside their MMORPG and building a shrine with an interactive statue to Honor the Memory of Tina and her much loved Avatar "Island Girl" Within hours of the shrine's addition to the world, Gamers decorated the shrine with virtual flowers and fruits and coins to express their love....even though all items in the universe have a real cash value. "Her entire family is deeply moved by the Project-Entropia developers tribute to Tina, says Jon Jacobs, Tina's husband Actor/filmmaker. "Her parents live in Oregon, while Tina, myself and our son lived in Miami. She spent most of her free-time online with her family, the fact that there is a beautiful memorial to her in the Virtual world, really provides a virtual place of rest for her, where we are all able to commune with her spirit. She loved her Avatar and so for us this virtual shrine is entirely tangible...in addition it has had a profound impact on the Project-Entropia community and that has touched us all very deeply. Tina would be very proud to be making Online Game History in her passing and the fact that Gamers can learn her story and hear her music, by visiting her shrine, means that her spirit truly lives on."
